WHO WE ARE

Community Health Education and Research Cooperation (CHERC) is a 501C(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2014 for the major purpose of addressing health & wellness in minority and immigrant communities. CHERC is a chapter of the Mental Health Association of Maryland (MHAMD) for Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties. The chapter name is “Mental Health Association of Greater Washington”. 

 

 

Ever since the organization was established, the organization has participated in health education fairs, trained mental health first aiders, referred mental health patients to various providers and distributed literature on the warning signs of mental health disorders. The organization is made up of a wellness practitioner, public health specialists, community health researchers, certified mental health instructors, diabetes educators and other health professionals. We have partnered and collaborated with non-profit organizations in Prince Georges County, Montgomery County and the District of Columbia; where we continue to inform, educate and empower communities on public health related prevention and control strategies.

Community Health Education and Research Corporation (CHERC) aims to reduce the incidence and prevalence of diseases by focusing on prevention strategies, health education, outreach and research.  

OUR GOALS

To continue sharing resources that improve community health via outreach, workshops, roundtable discussions, health forums, educational seminars and referrals
